Derick is a Fellow Chartered Secretary and Administrator of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (ICSEA) of the UK.

He obtained his qualification at the London School of Accountancy.

He also holds a Master of Business Administration. MBA with majors in Accounting and Finance from the Maastricht School of Management from the Netherlands.

Derick has attended some Continuous Professional Development (CPD) courses in Strategic Marketing. Planning Monitoring and Evaluation. Renewable Energy Sources and Technologies. Corporate Governance. Development of Small and Medium Sized Enterprises. Privatisation of Mining Assets and Public Utilities. Successful Negotiations, Business Analysis for Privatisation. Equity Analysis, to name but a few.

Derick has over 35 years practical experience in the Zambian corporate industry.

Derick was previously the Managing Director for Commercial Capital Corporation Limited and Money Express Limited.

He was also the liquidation manager for Commerce Bank Limited (In liquidation) during the period 2003 to 2006.

He was the inaugural Managing Director for CYMA Chartered Public Accountants and Management Consultants.

Derick was the Team Leader Financial & Business Analysis for the Zambia Privatization Agency (ZPA)/World Bank. 

Derick's team prepared. negotiated and closed privatisation transactions in excess of USS200 million on total package basis for the following privatization transactions:

Derick is currently the Consultant in charge for the retainer basis CYMA Company Secretary for the Zambia Electronic Clearing House Limited.
