Katai is a qualified Chartered Accountant with the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (ACCA) obtained at the Zambia Centre for Accountancy Studies and is a member of the ZICA.

He is a level II student of the Certified Financial Analyst (CFA) of the United States.

He constantly keeps up breast with all technical accounting journals on various topics on accounting such as creative bookkeeping in accounting, investments and all forms of window dressing schemes in financial and investment accounting.

Katai manages the CYMA copperbelt region engagements.

Katai has over 18 years experience in audit, financial and management accounting. Katai has international business experience in audit of both financial and investments accounting obtained working in Bermuda which is one of the tax holiday destination for international business that want to minimise their exposure to taxation. 

He is well versed in financial systems strategies that international businesses engage in to both avoid and evade taxation.

Katai has worked for Ernst and Young in Zambia and Deloitte Bermuda, international audit firms where he has gained both local and international experience.

Katai is a skilled financial systems auditor that gives him strengths to audit any financial systems from either direction even if there is a little or non-existence audit trail.

This is because of his ability to extrapolate accounting and financial models as long as little information is available.

Katai has experience in  forensic investigations for financial institutions.

He worked on the forensic investigations of retail branch transactions Stanbic Bank and forensic investigations of the NATSAVE computer systems of branch transactions.

His experience cuts across all industries that include agriculture; banking and financial services including insurance companies, manufacturing; mining, wholesale and retail and construction sectors. Katai has worked as Finance and Administration Manager for a mining contractor company AAC Mining Explorations and Executions Limited that had contracts with both Mopani Copper Mines and Konkola Copper Mines and is knowledgeable of the accounting processes of the mining industry.

Katai has also worked as Director of Operations at Impili Materials Limited that processed industrial minerals for production from quarry services of the mine activities and is knowledgeable about the line of property. plant and equipment that exists in the mining industry.

Katai has been with CYMA as an associate consultant since 2016. He was a key team member that drafted the audited sector notes for the Construction and Wholesale and Retail Sectors for the Zambia Revenue Authority that was successfully completed in November 2016. 

He previously worked with CYMA during the period 2004 to 2006.
